Which CBD Product Is Right for Me?

When you’re starting out with CBD, it can feel overwhelming to understand how to choose a CBD product that fits your needs. Not all CBD products are the same, so it’s important to understand how to choose a product that is most likely to give you the relief you’re looking for.

If you need help understanding how to pick, then you’re at the right place! Let’s take a look at what you should consider when choosing a CBD product.

Determine Why You Want to Take CBD

Having a clear idea of why you want to take CBD can help narrow your product choices. For example, if you are looking to CBD to help manage body pain, then you may want to consider a CBD product with a formula catered to relieving pain. If you need CBD to help you sleep through the night, then a long-lasting sleep solution may be an ideal fit.

You may have several reasons why you are interested in taking CBD, and that’s ok! Just take note of the primary health challenges that you want to attempt to manage, and then you can start looking at CBD product options.

Decide How to Take CBD Based on Your Needs

Once you understand why you want to take CBD, it makes it a lot easier to choose a CBD product that’s a good fit. Here’s a quick run down of some of the most popular ways to take CBD, along with why you may want to use them (or why you may want to choose another option):

CBD Patches

CBD patches are transdermal patches with CBD. The patch is applied to a clean area of your skin, where CBD is slowly absorbed through the skin and into the bloodstream. CBD patches have the highest bioavailability of any CBD product.

You may want to use CBD patches if you:

  • Want longer-lasting relief
  • Struggle to swallow pills
  • Need to take CBD discreetly
  • Want the maximum CBD absorption possible

You may want to use another CBD product besides CBD patches if you:

  • Want fast-acting relief
  • Have skin too sensitive for patches

CBD Capsules

CBD capsules are small pills that are filled with CBD. To use them, you just swallow them like any other common capsule or pill. As the capsule passes through your digestive system, CBD is slowly released into your bloodstream.

You may want to use CBD capsules if you:

  • Want longer-lasting relief
  • Have skin too sensitive for transdermal patches
  • Need to take CBD discreetly (like in public settings or the workplace)
  • Want precise dosing (each CBD capsule will generally have a consistent amount of CBD)

You may want to use another product besides CBD capsules if you:

  • Struggle to swallow pills
  • Have digestive issues that cause absorption problems
  • Need fast-acting relief for sudden, unexpected symptoms

Inhalable CBD

Inhalable CBD (or CBD vaporizers) are a common way to take CBD. A small, battery powered device heats up the CBD formula in a cartridge, which creates vapor that you then inhale.

You may want to use inhalable CBD if you:

  • Need quick, fast-acting relief
  • Struggle with swallowing capsules
  • Have skin too sensitive for transdermal patches

You may want to choose another CBD product besides inhalable CBD if you:

  • Need longer-lasting relief
  • Want to take CBD where vaping is not allowed
  • Are interested in precision dosing that can be measured easily

Combine CBD Solutions

If you feel like you would enjoy the benefits of different forms of CBD, then combine them! For example, if you want fast-acting and long-lasting relief, you can combine inhaled CBD with capsules or patches. Depending on your health needs, it may be your best option to combine multiple forms of CBD to get the total relief you’re looking for.

Determine CBD Dosage Levels

Since CBD will affect different people in different ways, there’s no “one-size-fits-all” solution to what your CBD dosage should be. Depending on why you’re using CBD, and the severity of symptoms, dosage levels can vary widely from person to person.

If you’re looking for some general guidance, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) recommends a maximum daily dose of 70mg. However, CBD isn’t a one-size-fits-all product, so you should consult with your doctor to determine a dose that’s best for you.

In order to avoid uncomfortable side-effects, here are a few tips to get started while you discover your dosage level:

  • Start with very small doses. For inhaled CBD, consider only 1-2 puffs to start. For capsules, just use one a day. For patches, just wear one patch a day.
  • Slowly increase your dosage over time.
  • Stop increasing your dosage when you have the desired relief.

It can take some time to find your ideal dose, which is why the next tip is the most important:

Take CBD Daily and Consistently

It can take time for you to experience the full relief CBD can provide, regardless of what form of CBD you’re taking. In order to understand the full benefits that a CBD product may provide, you need around 3-4 weeks of daily, consistent use.

Remember, while you use CBD daily, be sure to adjust the dosage while you search for your ideal relief.. Even if you take CBD for several weeks, if you never increase your dose from what you started with, you won’t get the full range of benefits that you could otherwise receive.
